Fire Department To Perform Training With Live Burn

Monday, January 29th, 2024

The Dalton Fire Department will conduct live-fire training activities at a house near the Christian Heritage School campus on Tuesday, January 30th. The training will include burning the structure to the ground so residents in the area can expect to see smoke, fire, and also the presence of emergency vehicles.

The live-fire training will be conducted at 131 Keith Street near Dogwood Drive. The training will be conducted between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. The training will include other neighboring agencies.

The fire department also conducted live burn training in this area in November, ultimately burning the neighboring structure at 129 Keith Street down at the end of the training session.

The opportunity to perform live-fire training in donated buildings like the two houses on Keith Street is a valuable chance to give firefighters and other personnel the opportunity to gain real world experience under live fire conditions that are difficult to replicate in the fire department's training structures.
