Monday, October 24th, 2022
The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify a man who used a stolen bank card to purchase gas earlier this month. The bank card was stolen along with a wallet from a car that was parked at Lakeshore Park near the playground.
The incident happened on October 2nd. A Dalton man reported to police that he left his wallet in his vehicle parked at Lakeshore Park while he took his children to play on the playground there. The man thought that he'd locked his car but later realized that the vehicle was not locked. When he later took his kids to get food he realized that his wallet was missing. When he checked his bank apps on his phone he got an alert that one of his bank cards was used at the Royal Food Mart gas station on North Thornton Avenue.
Police were able to get a surveillance picture of the suspect who used the stolen bank card to purchase $20 in gas at the store. The suspect appears to be a white male with dark hair and scruffy stubble on his face. The suspect wore a long sleeved blue shirt and a gray or black trucker style ball cap with a blue logo on it. The suspect appears to be in his 30s. The suspect was driving a white passenger car that appears to be a Nissan Altima.
Anyone who knows the identity of this suspect is asked to please contact Detective Charles Williams at 706-278-9085, extension 9-280.
