Friday, March 6th, 2026
The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify a man who an investigator says stole a portable speaker from a local hotel. The incident was recorded by surveillance cameras at the hotel.
The incident happened Thursday, March 5th at the Red Roof Inn on Walnut Avenue in Dalton. The victim in the case told police he was at the hotel to visit a friend who works there. While at the hotel, he put down his portable JBL Xtreme bluetooth speaker on top of an electrical control box in a stairwell and walked into the office. When he came back outside of the office, he found that the speaker was missing. After checking surveillance footage, a man was recorded walking into the stairwell empty handed and walking out with the speaker in his hands. The suspect was recorded walking away from the hotel towards the neighboring Waffle House and McDonald's restaurants. At the McDonald's, an employee told the victim they'd seen a man with the black speaker get into a red SUV and leave the scene.
The suspect is a white male who wore dark pants, a green t-shirt, and a gold chain. He had close cropped balding hair.
Anyone who recognizes this man is asked to please call Officer Cruz Aldava at 706-278-9085, extension 9-663 or email him at caldava@daltonga.gov.
