Dalton Police Investigate Counterfeit Cash

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify a man who used counterfeit money to make a purchase in Dalton. He then left the store with a large amount of genuine cash as change. The suspect was recorded by store surveillance.
On Friday, August 22nd a man entered the Sweet Spot on South Hamilton Street shortly after 7:00 pm. He bought a drink and paid with a fake $100 bill. The drink cost $8.53 and the man was given $91.47 in change. The man then left the restaurant. The crime was not detected until three days later when management for the restaurant made a deposit at their bank and the bank staff found that the bill was a fake.
The suspect was a heavyset Hispanic man who appeared to be in his 40s. He who wore a gray baseball cap pulled low over his forehead and a gray t-shirt with a Dalton soccer logo on the front. He had facial hair on his chin.
