Christmas & New Year's Garbage, Recycling Collection Schedule

City of Dalton offices and non-emergency services will be closed on Thursday, December 25th and Friday, December 26th in observance of the Christmas holiday and Thursday, January 1st, 2026 in observance of New Year's Day. 

The Public Works Department will not perform garbage or recycling collections on those days. Instead, the schedule will be adjusted to ensure all City residents receive collection services during the week of Christmas: 

  • Homes that usually have their garbage and recycling collected on Thursdays will be serviced on Tuesday, December 23rd. 
  • Homes that usually have their garbage and recycling collected on Fridays will be serviced on Wednesday, December 24th. 

The schedule will also be adjusted the week of New Year's:

  • Homes that usually have their garbage and recycling collected on Thursdays will be serviced on Friday, January 2nd, 2026. 

All other collections will take place as usual during those two weeks.
