Friday, April 26th, 2024

The Dalton Fire Department on Tuesday promoted Chad Young to the rank of battalion chief. Young's promotion was presented to the Public Safety Commission on Tuesday morning at its monthly meeting. Young will take over for Battalion Chief Chris Cantrell who is retiring from the department.

Battalion Chief Young joined the Dalton Fire Department in March 2001. He made his way up the ranks quickly, most recently earning promotion to the rank of captain in 2017. Fire Chief Matt Daniel told the Public Safety Commission on Tuesday that Young has been an asset to the department, assisting with day-to-day operations and shift management. In addition to his duties in the fire suppression division, Young has also served as the department's fleet maintenance coordinator and also oversees the fire apparatus driver/operator training program.
