August 21st Mayor and Council Called Meeting Notes
Thursday, August 21st, 2025
The Dalton Mayor and Council held a special called meeting on Thursday morning to consider two applications for alcoholic beverage licenses. The licenses were both recommended for approval on Tuesday morning by the Dalton Public Safety Commission. With the September 1st meeting of the Mayor and Council meeting canceled for the observation of Labor Day, the Council called Thursday's meeting so that business owners would not have to wait until September 15th for the vote on their license applications.

The first alcoholic beverage license application was for a package beer, wine, and liquor store license Good Times Liquor, Inc. which owns the Good Times liquor store at 100 North Oaks Drive. The store previously held a package sales license, but the business has been bought by a new owner and the license cannot be transferred. Therefore, the new owners had to apply for a new license. The Mayor and Council voted 3-0 to approve the license application (Councilmembers Dennis Mock and Tyree Goodlett were not present).
The second application was for a business classification change. The Dejavu Club, LLC applied to change the license for Dejavu at 224 N. Hamilton Street from a bar pouring beer and liquor license to a restaurant pouring beer and liquor license. The restaurant designation allows the business to sell alcohol on Sundays. The application was approved Tuesday by the Public Safety Commission with the stipulation that the business contact the health department to have an updated food service inspection of the menu. The menu previously only included chips and salsa and guacamole when the original inspection took place, but the menu is expanding to include hot dogs to qualify as a restaurant. The Mayor and Council voted 3-0 to approve the application.
The next meeting of the Mayor and Council will be held Monday, September 15th at 6:00 pm in the Raymond A. Elrod Council Chambers.
